Imagine spending most of your life inside a steel box surrounded by water in cold outdoor temperatures.

For most of us, when winter hits, we pull out blankets from the closet, add another layer to our beds, and enjoy that extra warmth and feeling of coziness.

Seafarers don’t always have that luxury. Although the ships have heating and cooling systems, sometimes the heat doesn’t reach individual cabins as effectively as it should and an additional blanket would be welcomed, especially by mariners who come from warmer climates.

Recently, the Ministry to Seafarers (M2S) was put in touch with The Blanket Lady. Since 2008, she has sewn thousands of blankets which she has given to patients in hospice, animal shelters, homeless organizations and other non-profit organizations. Now she wants to share her lovely creations with seafarers.

Each blanket comes with a note from The Blanket Lady and can be donated in your name along with a personal message, if you choose.

A generous donor has offered a $500 matching gift for each of the first 10 donations of $500 or more. By making a donation of $500 or more, you are directly contributing to the well-being of seafarers, doubling your financial impact and helping us achieve our chaplaincy goal.
