2018 Christmas Parcel Drive: That's a wrap!

2018 Christmas Parcel Drive
The 2018 Christmas Parcel Drive has wrapped up and we're thrilled to announce that 1600 gifts were given to seafarers who docked in the Port of Montreal.

As always, many stories mark this season of giving. Our chaplain, David, had an interesting reaction on one ship when he went to deliver the parcels. The Third officer had never seen anyone come to the ship and want to give the crew something and he couldn’t imagine why people would just want to give gifts to people they didn't know.  He didn’t know what to do and didn’t want to wake up the captain, so he refused David. While this was the first time this ship had been in Montreal in a number of years, both our chaplains knew the captain and at least half of the crew very well, so the next day when Michelle, our other chaplain, went on board, the captain was very apologetic that David hadn’t been allowed on board and the Third officer apologized as well.  This time they gladly accepted the gifts.

We had positive feedback from a seafarer's wife who was sailing with him. She writes, “We had a good get together on Christmas onboard thereafter we were given the beautiful gifts sent by U. It was indeed a great, great gesture on your part to make Christmas so special for all those who r far, far away from their families. I extend a very warm Thanks to U all for Ur labour of love! Best Regards.”

Another seafarer wrote, "Your labour of love is highly valued and appreciated for U all bring smiles to those who are far far away from the love n warmth of their families! Extending a heartfelt thanks for the Christmas gifts!"

We pass these words of appreciation on to everyone who participated in the Christmas Parcel Drive. Without you, there literally would not be a campaign!

"Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back." (Luke 6:38, NLT)
