Journal Starter for Psalm 145

This is the final psalm of David recorded in the Book of Psalms. In it, we see a combination of the praise of all generations and all creatures and David's personal praise. Verses 4 through 6 are a great example of this:
One generation commends your works to another;
    they tell of your mighty acts.
They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty—
    and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
They tell of the power of your awesome works—
    and I will proclaim your great deeds.
- What are some of God's mighty works and revelations of his glorious splendor that you want to tell the next generation about?

- How has God shown His power in your life?
God's people respond to His greatness with praise! We see that in this psalm. The very next verse says, "They celebrate your abundant goodness/ and joyfully sing of your righteousness."
- How do you celebrate (or how do you want to celebrate) God's abundant goodness?

- Do you have opportunities to "joyfully sing" of God's righteousness?

- Have you ever gone through a time when you didn't have other followers of Jesus to worship with in person? What was that like for you? How does being able to worship God with other people encourage you?
We learn in verses 15 and 16 that God provides for every living thing.
- How do you see God providing for you?

- How do you see God providing for the world?
David wrote, "The LORD is near to all who call on/ him,/ to all who call on him in truth" (18).
- How does the knowledge that God is near to you when you call on Him comfort you?

- What does it look like to call on God in truth?
